Hi, I’m Anshula — a senior at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, studying Interactive Media Arts. I grew up in Asansol, a small city in West Bengal, where my love for storytelling, teaching, and making things first took root. I spend a lot of time reading poems, writing my own, and sometimes reading them aloud just to see how they sound in the air. Most days, you’ll find me building something with my little pink tin box of sensors and wires, usually while eating strawberries — trying, always, to make something that feels, and maybe helps others feel too.

My passion continued in New York City, where I helped build Start Lighthouse’s inaugural Literary Residency Program at P.S. 214 in the Bronx. I helped transform a neglected room into a functioning library as part of Start Lighthouse’s inaugural Literary Residency Program. From scrubbing floors and painting walls to organizing inventory, arranging shelves, and transporting books from the storage, I was part of the team that turned an empty space into a vibrant, welcoming home for books and storytelling.

I currently volunteer as a teaching assistant and illustrator at 826NYC, where I support young writers as they explore storytelling. It’s a space filled with creativity, care, and connection — values that shape everything I try to make. Recently, our work even made its way onto The Kelly Clarkson Show, which was a surreal and joyful reminder of how far a good story can travel.
